You’ve got to check out eye of science: scientific photography – Life in a microcosmic world They have some great photos in their gallery. You can buy a poster of a wooden tick if that’s your thing… I’m thinking it isn’t going to be on my wish list. I’ve seen enough ticks… Sarah got lyme disease last summer. Yikes.

Hi Amy, I randomly came across your web page and I see the photo of your daughter with Lyme Disease. I recently, and when I say recently I mean 3 days ago I bought home a beautiful Boarder Collie that is about 4 months old. She was a stray and she’s a MESS.. I gave her a bath only to find out that she has fleas, flea eggs, ticks, tapeworms and even mosquito’s in her fur. I bought Advantix and put it on her only now I am paranoid to be anywhere around her becuase of Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountian Spotted Fever, not to mention I have a 1 1/2 year old. Do you have any advise that I might be useful? Thank you so much!! -Jenny

Hi Jenny,
First of all, you are an angel for picking up this puppy and getting her cleaned up. You said you bathed her and put Advantix on her. Did she see a vet? Did the vet do blood tests? If so, they should be able to let you know if she has any of the diseases you are concerned about. I’m sure you know you cannot get Lyme disease or RMS fever from the puppy, only from the infected tick itsef. The Advantix will prevent any ticks from getting on her, and if the vet clears her, love her to pieces. It would be very unlikely that an infected tick would be on the puppy, unattached. We did the same thing, picking up a mix (maltese and yorkie) puppy, cleaned her up, took her to the vet and had shots and Advantix….and I want to tell you…in my life I have never seen such an adorable, sweet, smart precious little girl! I wish you the best of luck.
