Weighty Issues

I was talking to my twin sister on the phone yesterday. Here’s part of our conversation:

Her: “How much do you weigh?
Me: [Long, avoid the subject pause.] “……..I don’t know…”
Her: “Yeh, that’s what I weigh.”

~~~
Last week, I had this conversation with my husband:
Me: “I need to lose 7 1/2 pounds.”
Him: “What, to get to your High School weight?”
Me: “No! To get to my November weight. Who cares about high school?”
Him: “…oh…”
~~~
So, people of my stature aren’t really allowed to talk about their desire to lose weight… Because it makes other people contort their faces in odd disgusted ways… It’s true. Well we are allowed to discuss the issue with other people of similar size… But not with people that are skinnier than we are… Because when they say they need to lose weight it makes us contort our faces in odd disgusted ways.

  1. So true. Only 3 people know what I weigh and that is 2 more than I am comfortable with. They are sworn to secrecy. They tell they will regret it for a long time.

  5. Congrats Jammay! Wait no… You are not officially your high school weight until the moment you graduate. It’s all up hill from there.
