Messy Reflection

Messy Reflection

Smudges and fingerprints. That’s what I see. Smudges and fingerprints, reflecting poorly on me.

Disappointed. In myself.

“Why haven’t I cleaned that window lately?” “This could have been a great photo.”

Messy fingerprints. It’s not just the window. The dishes are dirty and the laundry is in a pile, the floor needs swept and bathrooms haven’t been scrubbed for quite a while.

Messy fingerprints, reflecting poorly on me.

Bad Mom? Lazy housewife? Shudder at the titles.

This is not who I am. My value is not tied to shiny sinks or crock pot meals.

This is not who I am. It is a poor reflection because it is the wrong mirror. I will look at myself in a mirror greater than this, one that is not smudged by my inadequacies. A mirror polished by God.

  1. Good for you. And thanks for the reminder for all of us. Right now my house is clean. but only because I have had my mom here and she has been cleaning non-stop for weeks. Give me a week alone with 2 kids and I will be wondering where the sink is. God’s mirror is the best mirror. Where your heart is, and how you are following His plan is so much more important.

Gabbie has been calling you “aunt Amy” which is cute! I’ll email you or call you soon.

  2. When I see all the little finger smudges around my house I think of all the people out there who long for little ones to clean up after and it puts my mind where it belongs.

  3. Thanks for the perspective. Jesus really does love me even when my house is not clean. :)
