Catching Up

I’ve been so busy over the last few days, I haven’t taken the time to post. Here’s a run down of my last few days. Nothing fancy, just a journal entry.

New Basketball
I recently enjoyed shooting a few hoops at the gym. The basketballs they provide are in sad shape. So I took the kids to Target and purchased a nice women’s B-ball. It’s in my trunk just waiting to be tried out.

Thursday
Sticking our tongues out at the heat advisory, we spent the morning at the zoo with Kelly and her kids. Armed with camelbaks and water bottles we managed to survive the torturing temperatures and have a good time with friends.

By the time we got home, I was too worn out to go play basketball. I took a nap instead. I told Jeremiah I needed “two shows” of nap time. After an hour, he came to tell me he was sticky and needed a bath. Apparently, he made himself an ego waffle with extra syrup then waited patiently until the second show was over.

Friday
Out in the hot sun again, we went to Dave and Kelly’s garage sale. Came home, put on our new The Lazy Susan shirts and went to Nixa for a job fair. [Need a job?] Sarah and I left the job fair in search of nap time. She slept in her bed, I accidentally fell asleep on our couch. Tamara came to the door at 5:30. I didn’t hear her knock or ring the door bell… I didn’t hear the phone when she called. Finally, I woke up when Joel called. I stumbled to the door and let her in. I was still semi-unconscious for quite a while. This heat wears me out.

Friday Night
On Thursday, Joel told asked me to get a babysitter since he had two tickets to the Cardinals game. WooHoo! Date night. Well that’s what I was thinking. Joel apparently wasn’t. He got two more tickets on Friday and invited two guys to go with us… Um.. excuse me? In my mind he was inviting two guys to come with us on our date. That is so wrong. Of course that’s not how he saw it at all. This wasn’t a date. It was just a baseball game and who wouldn’t want to share the extra tickets with a couple of great guys? I was upset. He was clueless. I had a bad attitude. [I'm sure you can tell.] I griped. I thought of not going. I called my friend. She told me I should still go. Actually, she said I should wear a low cut shirt and hold his hand and cuddle with him and whisper in his ear… whatever. She said I had to go or I’d stay at home all night upset. That’s true. I said, “OK I’ll go. After all, it’s still the Cardinals.” She replied, “You mean it’s still your HUSBAND!” Yeh, whatever.

So we went to the game. And we had a lot of fun. Unfortunately Steve wasn’t able to come. Brad did, and despite the trouble I gave him and Joel, it was good that he came with us. We talked about the restaurant and promoted it to all the people around us. Oh, and Brad has connections with the food service people at the ball park. He brought us a ton of food. We gave the hot dogs and peanuts to the people sitting near us. Then came amazing Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches. These are awesome. They are huge. They cost 6 bucks. Ouch. But ours were free, which makes them even more delicious. Oh so good if you get them made fresh.

The Cards won. Great game.

Saturday
The kids and I drove to Carthage to see Jami. We met her at Precious Moments. It was HOT, HOT. We quickly retreated to our friends’ house where we enjoyed air conditioning, lunch and conversation… Peppered with a little violence. My son pounded on a little girl because she took his toys away. So embarrassing. He usually only pounds on his little sister…

Saturday Night
We got home just in time to leave for another Springfield Cardinals game. They gave away lunch boxes to the kids. Very fun. The game went well at first. The kids were behaved, we got more free food… the people behind us were friendly… Sarah was kept busy for 5 innings shelling peanuts and putting them in her new lunch box. Then the eighth inning. Ooooh it was ugly. I told Sarah to cover her eyes. The Wichita Wranglers scored 5 runs in the 8th. Pitcher, Chris Mears, did so badly they released him. That’s pretty rough. One bad inning and you’re fired.

Sunday
Late for church. Jeremiah spent most of his time there showing off his Lazy Susan shirt and practicing his sales pitch. It always sounds great in the car. But once he’s talking to someone he just says, “This is my Lazy Susan shirt… We have macaroni.”

Lunch with Tamara. More napping. Missed my chance to play basketball AGAIN. Maybe Monday…

For dinner, we had a picnic on the living room floor. Jeremiah planned it all when he got his new Cardinals lunch box. We had a great time.

  1. You have macaroni! That is the best pitch in the world, as far as I am concerned! Keep it up Jer!!

Hope you and Christine have fun tonight… I wish I were going.
