“I hate fire.”

flaming car
Driving home from The Lazy Susan, my husband spotted a vehicle overturned and on fire. He called 911, found a place to turn around and was the first person on the scene.

Joel pulled the drunk driver out of the car. Then he went back to the flames and started banging his flashlight against the window. His sturdy police flashlight broke before the window did. Finally, the passenger woke up and tried to crawl out of the car. Joel pulled him the rest of the way out.

Joel said, “There was a lot of fire… I hate fire.”

Sound familiar? Remember another late Friday night 3 months ago? Read about the June 24th house fire.

For hating fire so much, Joel sure runs into it a lot lately. My husband is making a habit of these late night heroics. I’m proud of him.

Joel four - Fire zero.
