Marla is writing a post about Calvanism. She mentions attending a freshman New Testament class taught by Robert Gundry. Hey wasn’t he the author of my New Testament Lit. text book? Name Dropper. ;)

The first time I heard the terms “Calvinist” and “Arminian” was in Robert Gundry’s New Testament class my freshman (and only) year at Westmont College. - Always Thirsty: Reluctant Calvinist (a post in progress)

Looking forward to reading the rest of her post.

“Have you ever been watching a movie and thought, “They could have made that same point without using all that bad language!” Have you ever thought that the overuse of bad language is a sign of weak, lousy dialogue? Is it possible that the overuse of ANY words, including good words, might be a sign of the same? Maybe WE, too, settle for ‘default’ language instead of being specific and meaningful.” - Chris Rice: Deep Enough to Blog

On September 12th, 1999 I found out that I was pregnant with our first child. This was undoubtedly the happiest day of my life. Not long after, my world was shattered with the news that my baby had died. Having a miscarriage changed everything. This tragic event violently ripped me away from everything I had comfortably believed in. I realized that bad things actually can happen to good people.

I felt angry and alone. I questioned my beliefs, I yelled at God… He loved me anyway. The following June I lost another baby. I started to grieve all over again. I cried and prayed and God reached down and let me know that I wasn’t alone. He soon blessed me with two amazing children.

I wouldn’t trade that painful time in my life for anything. It has made me who I am. I didn’t write much during this period of my life… but I did write a few Random Thoughts on Grief, Hope and Prayer.

Here are a few more resources:

I’ll add more resources as I find them.

OK, I still have a mountain of paperwork to sort through. And I’m needing a little encouragement. Please leave a comment with your favorite scriptures concerning God’s provision, finances, wisdom and patience.

“Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.” - Romans 13:8

I’m going through the mail… Can you tell?

Jeremiah noticed that I’m upset. He asked what is wrong. I told him I have too many bills to pay. He thought for a moment and suggested that maybe I should just save some for tomorrow so I won’t have too many tonight.

Jeremiah walked into our livingroom for the first time in three weeks. He exclaimed, “Oh, I didn’t know our house was clean!”

A few weeks ago, I missed a meeting concerning Sarah’s need for speech therapy. During all the chaos that surrounded me, I neglected to check my calendar and enjoyed lunch with a friend instead of a meeting with Springfield Public Schools.

They had the meeting without me and scheduled Sarah’s screening for the day before Thanksgiving. A day we weren’t in town. I called and told them we wouldn’t make it and said I would call and reschedule when I got back to town.

After driving all day, I gathered a week’s worth of mail and tossed it to the desk. About to go to sleep, I decided to open one envelope… Oh look a letter from Springfield Public Schools. “Since it was going to be difficult to contact you by telephone, I have re-scheduled Sarah’s speech evaluation for November 29, 2005 at 9:30.” People, that is less than 12 hours from now. If I’m too far from home to answer the phone, I PROBABLY won’t be receiving my mail either. Craziness. I better go to bed, I have to fill out a ton of paperwork before tomorrow’s meeting.
