Goodness. Hope all of my Springfield friends are finding shelter… Looks like there’s a tornado near our house… Somebody give me a call if it blows away.

  1. Whooo doggy! That was quite a ride

Am going to drive around by your area. Will check in on your house. I wish I had a camera to take a picture of the hail, CRAZY big!

  2. Getting round two, sirens going off again. Just got in from checking things out. Parts of Nixa and SGF w/out power. Some houses demolished in the same are of Battlefield that got hit in 2003. Your place is fine.

  4. Our power was out for several hours, and the sirens were creepy, but we are okay this morning. There was stuff north of us, and south of us, but we were okay. Just a lot of wind and some rain, only a little bit of hail.

The “fun” part was fixing up the laundry room with pillows and candles and then bringing the kids in there out of bed. Davy thought it was time to play, and Gabbie wanted her bear blanket. You know how it goes. All in all they did good. We told stories and sang songs. And realized that we really need a battery operated radio. Once the power went out, we had no idea when it was safe to leave the laundry room. We left when the sirens stopped.

Then it took another hour or so to get the kids back to sleep in there beds, and the sirens kept starting and stopping just to let us know we were still under a tornado watch.

I finally fell asleep sometime after 1 a.m. in a hot stuffy house (complete with lanterns for night lights). I woke up this morning to a ceiling fan on and the air conditioner running. I haven’t checked outside yet for damage. I’ll have to let you know later.

  5. I have like 5 minutes of peace and quiet before my next round of debriefings. Both of our assessment teams reporting hard hit areas in Nixa, Clever, Billings and Marrionville. “Pink insulation everywhere, it looks like dogwood trees” is one quote. But it’s weird, the tornadoes hopscotched across the area, some places hit, others not.
    Gotta go back to it.

  6. Wild night! We ended up in the cellar twice before it was all over. I thought it was never going to end. I’m not sure about other areas but in Clever where most of my family live, a tornado took the same path it took in May 2003 and wiped out the same houses and barns. A friend of mine (David Stokely) lost his barn and three horses…AGAIN! The damage is very wide spread. I haven’t heard if there were any fatalities but I do know there were some critical injuries.
Amy…just be glad you weren’t here!
