Your Sound Track

LifesongJudi just told me about the most amazing song. I Will Praise You In This Storm by Casting Crowns.

This song is the music playing in the background of my life. It will definitely be on the Amy Maxwell soundtrack.

What? Doesn’t your life story have a sound track?

Actually, that’s not a bad idea at all. Put together your life sound track and list the songs in the comments or on your blog. I’d love to have the CD.

[Jami, your CD has to have at least one Mr. Big song. Dad, how about Crystal Blue Persuasion? Mom, will you put Silver Wings on the list? I'm guessing Sara Groves will be on Tamara's sound track.]

Oh, by the way: I’m breaking my blogging rules by including the lyrics to Praise You in the Storm. Click “Show More” to read them. They’re awesome. You can listen to the song for free at Rhapsody.

Casting Crowns: Praise You In This Storm

I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”
and it’s still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God
Who gives and takes away

Chorus:
I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can’t find You

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God
Who gives and takes away

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

  1. Yes, Silver Wings will be on the sound track. I remember dancing with your dad to that song many times. The lyrics don’t fit but the memories are to good to not have it one the cd.

  2. Jami’s sound track. Hmm I’ll have to think about that one.

“To be with you” If I have to pick a Mr. Big thats the one. . .and if we’re going back to highschool there might be a few Brian Adam’s as well.

For today my song is Face Down, by Matt Redman.

  3. The song by Carrie Underwood that is on 99.5 right now, I think it is “Jesus take the wheel”, at least that is in the chorus. I just want to sit and cry everytime I hear it, and I don’t usually like country music.

Joey really likes the song “Held” and I can see why.

Not sure what else I would add.

  4. Jesus take the wheel is a good one.

How about “Hold me Jesus” by Rich Mullins?

Jami I have “To Be With You” in my MP3 player right now.

  5. I love “Held”! That would definately be on my life soundtrack. Along with “Be Thou my Vision” (especially the version that Ginny Owens sang her on first CD). Also Rebecca St.James put a bonus song on one of her cds of Psalms 139- it just ministers to me so much! That would be my lifesong! I think the one song that would be my “song” right now is that worship song “How Great is our God”. It is constantly on my mind lately. Thanks for doing such cool post today Amy! This was fun!

  6. As I thought, I have too many songs. So Judi’s Anthology, the Childhood Year is posted. More to come. This is fun. ;-)

  7. Definately the song “Free” by the Newsboys would be in my soundtrack. The freedom we have in Christ is so awesome. In fact today I am choosing to leave my burdens at the cross. I may worry about them tomorrow again, but for today, they’re all His. Thanks Amy.

  8. Amy, I love this idea.

I posted my soundtrack this afternoon.

Thanks for starting this topic! It’s my favorite to date.

  10. “I Can’t Complain” by Donald Lawrence
It say’s I can’t complain, I am encouraged to go on in Jesus name. Lord I thank you for your mercy.
Sunshine and rain. I can’t complain. I stand and lift my hands. In sickness and pain-I can’t complain.
How can I complain when God has been good to me.
Thank the Lord I am blessed in Jesus name.

  11. Casting Crowns “Lifesong”—WOW! What a wonderful CD. My favorite is “And Now My Lifesong Sings”. That’s my theme! It talks about being lost, but now found. Blind, but now I see. Dead, but now I live….and NOW my lifesong sings Hallelujah!

Powerful stuff! Jesus brought me from being lost, blind & dead to singing!!!!
