Jeremiah talks about debt a lot. He’s sickened by the idea of borrowing money and dreams of the day when we will mark off the last debt listed on our fridge. [He's helped us mark off 26 so far.] Here are a few things he has said about debt lately:
Taking money out of one of his savings envelopes, Jeremiah said, “Daddy, I want to give you some of my store money for you to get out of debt.”
–
Jeremiah forgot to bring his spending envelope to the baseball game so he borrowed money from Joel for an extra treat. Later he counted his coins and found that he had enough money to pay back what he had borrowed from his daddy. Beaming, he yelled, “YES! I’m out of debt!” He told everyone… including a neighbor who just happened to walk by.
–
Setting goals to help motivate us, Jeremiah decided to draw pictures of all the things he wants to do when we’re “out of debt.”

While we were at Fort Jackson, we attended Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. Jeremiah usually chose to stay with us instead of playing in the nursery. A few days ago, Jer told me that we need to go back to South Carolina so we can learn more about money from Dave Ramsey.
