Sarah woke up after having a bad dream at 4 a.m. After getting a drink of water and going to the bathroom she asked, “Can’t you just make it morning and we stay awake?” I told her no. As I took her to my bed, she calmly asked, “Can I just lie here and keep my eyes open?”

I assumed that she fell asleep right away. I did. But this morning after she awoke, she told me that she kept her eyes open until the sun came up, then she went back to sleep.

Poor little girl.
