While trying out a new search tool, I happened to search Amazon.com for “Amy Maxwell.†This is what I found:
The Poll With a Human Face: The National Issues Convention Experiment in Political Communication
by Maxwell E. McCombs (Editor), Amy Reynolds (Editor)
Of course a search for “Amy Maxwell†only brought up this result because of the partial names of the editors. Right?
Probably so. Why then am I blogging about such random results? Because I was a part of that National Issues Convention Experiment. At age 18, I flew to Austin, TX and joined 600 other randomly selected U.S. citizens to discuss politics and ask questions of the 1996 presidential candidates.
I had so much fun that weekend. I made several friends from Seattle who gave me their email addresses… Unfortunately, I didn’t have Internet access then. I’m not sure I even knew what email was. I only had a word processor. Remember those?
I have a National Issues Convention scrapbook somewhere in my attic. I’ll have to find it and scan some photos.

Don’t you love random coincidences?
