My purse came in the mail this morning! Everything was just like I left it… in the gas station bathroom.
Someone paid 25 dollars to ship it Express Mail. They paid extra to get it to me as quickly as possible.
On Sunday at Central, Jim Bradford spoke about the importance of relationships and loving our neighbors. He said there are three kinds of people:
1. Those who say, “What’s yours is mine if I can get it.”
2. Those who say, “What’s mine is mine and you can’t have it.”
3. Those who say, “What’s mine is yours if you need it.”
Thankfully, the right kind of people found my purse.
What kind of person are you? Do you give more than you take?

Praise God that everything was still there! I hope that those who know me would say I fall under #3.

I second Debbie’s “Praise God!”
Most of the time I think I’m a type 3 kinda person. Hopefully I outwardly express it often enough and other people know it.

FYI: the comment link for the Blogger in Israel post isn’t working. Just curious… where do you find this stuff?

Hey thanks for telling me about that. It’s fixed now. I got found that link via boingboing.net… which I don’t usually admit to reading.

Did the person that sent you your purse add a return address? Is there any way to reimburse them?

I’m trying to figure that out.

If you can’t find a return address, you might just be able to stop by the same store on the way home and ask them if they know who did the kind favor. You might be able to give them a token of appreciation, like some cookies or a gift card or something. Let them know they were the inspiration for some good blogging!
About your question. I think I am a little of several people. Most people are. There are some people I give a lot more to than I will ever see back. Like Nico and Steve who we have let live with us rent free. Or the many people we have fed over and over, and they never reciprocate.
However, there are also people who have poured into my life. Like my parents, obviously, with that, all I can do is say thank you a lot, and then pass that on to my own children. Also, people like Amber, who has sat with me countless hours, and watched my children for free for years now. (Even though I do feed her and her husband a lot in return!)
Life is a lot of give and take. Some people you can never give back to, and that is where you can give to others, a whole “pay it forward” concept. I enjoy giving to other people, I hope I can give out as much as God has blessed me with.
