The Car Line

Years ago, when I dreamed of having a child, I thought of taking him to kindergarten, going to school programs and bringing cupcakes for birthday parties. I did not imagine waiting forever in the car line to pick him up.

It does have some benefits though…

  1. I know what you mean, Amy. My daughter is in Kindergarten and when I pick her up, I usually get there 30-45 minutes before they let out. If my wife picks her up, she gets there over an hour early and walks around the neighborhood with my son (who is 3).

Having kids changes your life in ways you never think about!

  2. Does anyone collect their child on foot? Or do people generally not live that close to their schools?

  3. Some people do walk to pick their kids up. I’m not sure how many though. The ‘walkers’ line up somewhere else. There are a lot of houses in the area. I assume a lot of them do walk. We can’t though. It’s too far and we’d have to cross a dangerous expressway.

  4. We live about 7 miles from the school that my daughter attends. It would be a good walk - but certainly not everyday - and then add the fact that I’d likely have to carry my daughter most of the way ;-)
