Good morning friends,

I got two great questions via the Meebo chat box over night.

1. In reference to anticipatory grief: I will post all of my resources here as soon as my paper is finished. It’s due on the 1st of December.

2. A reader also requested that I write a post about dealing with a reserve unit getting mobilized. “What does it all entail, and most importantly, how does faith factor in?” Great questions! I’ll try to get to that post next week after I write the deployment paper and my Psalm 124 sermon.

3. Judi also asked me for a lengthy post about the discussion on War we both attended at Central last night… that will have to wait a bit.

Email me or leave a comment if you’d like to discuss these topics further.

Looks like we’re in for a little winter weather. Well, actually the National Weather Service is calling it a “MAJOR WINTER STORM.”

Snow, ice, sleet, frogs, locust.

Eight inches of snow… 1/2 an inch of ice… and another inch of sleet.

I’ve heard warnings of lost power and water… and GASP… school closings!

Let me just say, if we have school closings, I need lost power too… or at least lost Internet. That way I can have an excuse for not turning in my paper on Friday night… which won’t be finished if I have Jeremiah and Sarah snowed in with me for two days.

Don’t worry about us though. I’ve taken the necessary precautions… I just brewed a full pot of coffee and safely stored it in a big thermos. Hot coffee for me tomorrow… even if the world is covered in a thick sheet of ice.

Oh and we won’t go hungry either. My roommate has an unexplainable amount of tuna stashed in our pantry. Seriously, who buys that much tuna? Surely it’s not left over from Y2K…

We closed on our house today!

This is awesome news in a sad/relieved kinda way. I really liked that house…had hoped to live there forever, in fact. Oh well. God is good. All the time.

Note: Patti pointed out that forever is a long time–especially when you’re military. True… but this was before we decided to be military.

Note #2: Joel wrote about the house closing.

Hey, my Chaplain, minister, military and counselor friends…

Do you have any resources on anticipatory grief as it relates to spouses of deployed soldiers?

I’m working on a paper for Friday.

Dealing with the aftermath of procrastination…

Update: Got my paper done by 10 a.m. In time for class. No worries.

Here’s a quick note to say that I am totally in love with my five year old son. He’s so funny. And so serious. And so much fun to be with and talk to. I have a great story I could tell about him, but I know he’d rather his private life wasn’t eternally Google-able… so I will resist the temptation.

There comes a point in parenthood when telling friends everything about your children becomes more like gossip and less like a mom talking about her day.

All I want for Christmas is…
an Amazon Gift Certificate.

Oh and pizza… but that’s always a given.

And maybe for the WindFM to stop playing Christmas music 24 hours a day… please?
