I accidentally deleted the candidate by candidate option. Thankfully the first person who took the poll added it as their Other option. Thanks. I’ve added it to the list.

I’ll vote for Libertarian candidates that are available on the local level, but on the national level, I’ll probably just vote Republican. I hate that I feel compelled to do it, it’s honestly a vote for fear, a vote against the Democrats instead of a vote for a particular candidate or set of ideals. But on the other hand, I understand that it’s a case of survival of the fittest. Too many people vote out of fear of the other party, regardless of which party the “other” party is. Libertarians and other independents, when voting their conscience at the national level get accused of “taking votes away from the _______” If you’re Libertarian, you get accused of taking votes away from the Republicans, if you’re Green, you get accused of taking votes away from the Democrats. It sounds as if only the Republicans and Democrats truly deserve any votes, when in fact, they don’t deserve any of them.
Oops, got on a rant, sorry ’bout that!

I don’t know what an MRLP is. And I don’t have time this morning to explain the midterms. Maybe someone else can for you.

just in case the question about mid-terms elections was a serious one….
a mid-term election is the election that happens in the middle of a presidential term.
if it wasn’t a serious question… well, I guess I need to learn how to take a joke.

no i really have no idea, so if its in the middle of presidential term? who are you electing?
Comment by james — November 9, 2006 @ 3:20 am
National and State senators and congressman… plus other local issues.
Comment by Amy — November 9, 2006 @ 6:38 am
Senators, Congresspeople, Governors and misc. ballot issues.
Our Congress was set up so that every 2 years, 1/3 of the Senators and Congresspeople are up for re-election. It’s a 6 year cycle, which is why their terms are 6 years long.

thank you, thats clarified things a little, its a lot more complicated than our system, in terms of a voters point of view, but does mean you have to put up with annoying campaign trailers every 2 years instead of every 4-5 =]

yes
Comment by Conda — November 10, 2006 @ 9:20 am
Yes, in theory it gives us the opportunity as voters to completely shift the power every two years. Instead, it’s become an atmosphere where we get beat to death with campaign ads and we have the likes of Robert Byrd and Teddy Kennedy who have been in office longer than I’ve been alive.
