Joel tried to call me. He called all the way from Afghanistan… and Cingular dropped the call in my own apartment.
I love Cingular. They’re consistent. They provide the same lack of service Nation Wide. From Texas to Oklahoma, Missouri to Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Detroit to Indiana… It’s predictable. It’s comfortable. I know I’ll have no service. I know my calls will be dropped.
It could be my phone. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and blame it on my phone… because surely… surely their service isn’t THAT BAD.
Is it?
Update: He called back. Third time my phone actually rang. I think I’ll buy a new phone today.

I really think it is you phone. I have them and never get dropped.

I think it is Cingular. All of my siblings have Cingular – my brother has the most expensive phone/pda you can buy and my sister has a razor – they hardly ever bother even turning their phones on because they either get no service or really crappy service.
I have a razor on the Alltel network and though I cannot say they provide 100% reception, I do know for a fact that everyone always has to borrow my phone.

Forgot to mention that when my dad got a chance to call from Iraq, my phone worked great.

Well, we got dropped by Cingular, so I have nothing good to say about them!!

I will say that coverage on Cingular is good for me here in the Pacific Northwest – better than the AT&T service was before Cingular bought them. But I know it really depends on where you are, and it sounds more like the service than the phone when you lose calls like that

I have had Cingular for three years now. Service is a lot better now than before, and I’m a traveler! Guess their promise of raising the bar isn’t bull__ after all.
