Homesick

Now that my module is over, the marathon that was January and February finally comes to an end… Time to breathe. Time to sleep. Time to miss Joel.

And I do. My heart aches for him.

This has been a rough week. There was the car bomb at Baghram… plus I’ve been to the morgue, practiced death notifications, watched 9/11 videos, participated in a mock accident scene, and delivered a memorial service message for a fallen soldier.

Not only do I miss my man, I also miss my CH-BOLC battle buddies. I left two weeks ago and I still miss them.

Patti left me a voice mail yesterday morning. Which I’m not ashamed to admit made me cry… the three times I listened to it.

One thing has helped though. Amiee, [future Army Chaplain] was in class with me. We had lunch together each day and she came over one evening for pizza and… well somehow she ended up doing my dishes. ANYWAY… it was nice having her near. Plus I got to see Tim one day. [He was in my platoon.] And we had an Episcopal priest in our class. She really has nothing to do with CH-BOLC but somehow she made me feel closer to the pluralistic setting of the Chaplain School. Which is another thing I really miss.

  2. Jonny!

Great to hear from you. Enjoy PT without me. I’ll do 50 push-ups in your honor.
