Today’s Pentecostal Evangel Podcast recently interviewed Chaplain Scott McChyrstal. Here’s Part 1.
CH (COL) McChrystal is the military chaplaincy endorser for the Assemblies of God.
In part one, CH McChrystal tells about when he was saved, baptized in the Spirit, called to the ministry, decided to be a chaplain, served as an Army chaplain etc.
I’ve recently acquired some great new CDs. Two of them were gifts, some of them I actually bought for myself. [Shocking isn't it?]
Rachel has been working on a series of posts which I’ve been very impatiently waiting for. She just posted one, and I’d love for you all to read it.
Friendship and Faith by Rachel Harmon.
I’m so excited about what God has done in my life this summer. One of the highlights has been getting a front row seat as God continues to bless my friend Rachel. I can’t wait to link you to her next post.
Note: Rachel writes,
“I knew there was more to the Christian life than what I had been living. I was thirsting after the things of God, and I needed Him to satisfy me. Amy and I prayed together a lot, sitting in my living room floor. It was a good thing. Sitting shoulder to shoulder in the presence of God. The Bible says that where two or three were gathered in His name, He would be right in the middle of it. We were not in church or gathered with a big group of people, but we were gathered in His name. He honored His promise. He met with us. He blessed us. He comforted us. He encouraged our hearts. It was a really good thing.”
Shoulder to Shoulder. I’ve been intending to write a blog post with this title for at least a month now. Rachel was going to link to it in her post, but I stalled too long and she was ready to hit publish before I was. I’ll be posting it soon.
Yes! It’s Wednesday and that means something different this semester. Instead of feeling guilty for not taking my kids to church, instead of making up excuses to skip… it is 7:30 a.m. and I’m already looking forward to it. So are the kids. Last Wednesday was really good. The message was about silence. Ahhh silence. I especially appreciated Pastor Mike’s continual references to God’s gentle whisper. With amazing self-control, I refrained from yelling, “Dot Com” every time he said, “Gentle Whisper.”
Since getting back to Springfield, I’ve been able to attend Central Assembly three times. It’s nice to be home, nice to be worshiping in a familiar place… nice to be able to wear jeans again.
[In such a large church, I only noticed one other woman wearing jeans this Sunday morning, I wonder why I feel it's OK for me to do so?]
I really enjoyed Pastor Bradford’s sermons on Sunday. In the morning his sermon was titled, “Worth the Pain.” That night he preached on Good Guilt and Bad Guilt.
Good Stuff. I encourage you to listen to them some time.
update: Oh man, I’m so disappointed. I feel terrible and can’t go to church tonight. ![]()
In lesson three of his book, With Christ in the School of Prayer, Andrew Murray tells us we should get alone with God and promotes the proverbial prayer closet. I have a prayer closet… every time you enter my closet you have to pray nothing falls on you. Do you think that’s what he means?
About closet-prayer he says,

Holly has bestowed upon me the very pink Rockin’ Girl Blog Award. I’m so excited to see that my good friend is not only blogging again, but staying close to home. I can’t wait to share some Chinese food with her. I’m so proud of this young patriot.
This reminds me, Jen gave me this award back in June when I was still drowning in cross-cultural communication homework and had no blogging energies left. So here’s a belated thanks! I’ve enjoyed getting to know Jen through her blog. Stop by and wish her well on her first semester of seminary.
Ok, so I guess this means I’m supposed to give this award to few Rockin’ Girl Bloggers… um… ok.
JamiLeigh.com - Because I wish she’d start blogging again. Don’t you? Go tell her you miss her.
NothingGold.net - Rachel has been writing some awesome posts over the last few months. I’m not just saying that cause I love her. And no I’m not referring to the ones with cute pictures of my kids.
Very Random Ramblings - Despite the sad Myspace address, my friend Brooke writes some HILARIOUS stuff. Ok, well at least I think she’s hilarious.
The Owl’s Song - I love to read this AG pastor’s blog. She’s always writing about something I’m interested in.
Faith at the Front - You all know how much I love Sara Horn. I’m looking forward to her next book and hope to see her again next time I go through Nashville. Which hopefully is sooner rather than later…
Righty in a Lefty State - Thanks to Barb for all of her support of our family and the military.
