Home Again

For the first time in almost a month, I’m writing to you from my own apartment. The kids are happily painting at the table, the suitcases are patiently waiting in the trunk. I’m seriously considering going to sleep. It is good to be home. Good to be in familiar surroundings. Good to come home and find my fears had been irrational, I had not left raw turkey bacon in the trash can baking in a 90 degree apartment for 3 weeks.

Tomorrow the race to make up for being gone all summer begins. Today. I rest.

The kids and I are already missing our new family in Tennessee. I could write more about that, but Rachel pretty much already said everything.

  1. We miss you guys, too. Glad you made it home safely, and really, really glad you didn’t come home to any turkey bacon horrors.

  2. So glad you got that time. You sound so happy and renewed. And it sounds like the trash must not have been too terribly stink. Whew. Selfishly, I’m glad you are home. ;) I am very thankful for your friendship with Rachel, it sounds like each other was exactly what you two needed. :) Welcome home.

  3. I’m happy you are home too! I really need good coffee! I’m glad you had such an awesome summer, and all of it basically unplanned. So cool. Anyways, we are looking forward to seeing you again and having the girls in school together.

  6. Just wanted to say your song, “I’m Already Home,” brought me to tears, and I never cry. Thanks for a great song. Thanks for honoring our soldiers.
