I ordered my first shirt from shirt.woot.com today. And I’m probably too excited.
Shirt.Woot has a derby each week. They announce a theme on Thursday then start taking submissions on Friday morning. Throughout the week, people vote for their favorite shirt designs. The following Friday at 12 a.m. the first prize winner goes on sale for 10 dollars with free shipping. [Second sells on Saturday, third place on Sunday] That’s an awesome price for any design printed on an American Apparel t-shirt. A limited number of shirts are available for 10 bucks. The next day reprints can be purchased for 15. Shirts remain on sale at the higher price until they aren’t selling enough each week, then they’re gone forever.
That’s a basic summary… but there’s also a cool community aspect since there are message boards for each entry and each derby.
Oh… and just like the main Woot site, Shirt.Woot writes ridiculous product descriptions for the items they sale… so that can be fun. I’m not too impressed with today’s description though.
Ok… all that to say… the shirt I was rooting for got first place this week.
I stayed up till midnight last night to buy it because I was sure it would win, and sure it would sell out. It’s a good thing I stayed up. The shirt sold out by 8 this morning. I would have hated to spend an extra five bucks to buy it tomorrow.
I said this was my first Woot shirt, but actually I bought one for Rachel’s birthday. Here it is:

This one has a great write up. Oh and here’s a photo of Rach wearing her shirt. ![]()

As I was reading this post, Owen started yelling, “Turtle! Turtle!” Next time you come see us, you should wear that shirt. You’ll be sure to get on Owen’s good side right away.
