As the presidential election heats up, I continue to hear about the candidates’ views on abortion. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out what is true and what’s just political mud.
As I research the issue, I’m saving my findings at a Squidoo lense called Abortion Politics. Feel free to check it out and suggest other links and news articles.
While we’re on this touchy subject please tell me, how does a candidate’s position on abortion affect your vote? What issues are most important to you? Do you have any deal breakers?
I often share links of interest on my Facebook account… I guess I should share them with you too. Here are the links I’ve posted in June.

Source: www.nytimes.com
“Just as it has claimed so many other members of the military, the war in Iraq has taken a toll on chaplains. Although they do not engage in combat, chaplains face the perils of war as they move around Iraq to visit troops. None have been killed, but some, like Chaplain Brunk, have been wounded. Many report post-traumatic stress disorder and other stress problems.”

As we drove home tonight, Sarah and I discussed the third person of the Trinity. It all started when Sarah said, “The Holy Spirit is a kind of bird.”
I told her that the Spirit is not a bird, God just made him look like a dove once.
She asked why.
I told her God is kind of confusing sometimes.
Sarah said, “Yeh he put a costume on the Holy Spirit!”
Then we got serious and she prayed that Jesus would fill her with his Holy Spirit. She asked the Holy Spirit to help her be like Jesus, to show her what to say, what to do and where to go.
Not only was it cute, but it was a big deal. Sarah rarely prays out loud. She’s really growing up.
The Christian Science Monitor just ran a six part series on military chaplains. There are several articles and videos you might find interesting.
Gary D. McCormack, a Greene County sheriff’s deputy, was killed this morning while responding to a crash. He was hit broadside by a volunteer firefighter responding to the same call.

This breaks my heart. I didn’t know him personally, but my husband did. Joel worked at the Sheriff’s Department for years. Please pray for the families, for the deputies, firefighters and for our good friend Sheriff Jack Merritt.
I wonder if the Sheriff’s Department has a chaplain…
