Politics

When questioned about a candidate’s stance on abortion, a dear friend recently said to me, “I’m not voting on that issue.”

The comment reminded me of my friend Matt’s recent post:
One Issue Voting « From the Straight and Narrow

I’ve been reading about Sarah Steelman and watching the videos on her campaign Web site.

She’s got my vote on August 5th.

Vote for Sarah Steelman

As the presidential election heats up, I continue to hear about the candidates’ views on abortion. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out what is true and what’s just political mud.

As I research the issue, I’m saving my findings at a Squidoo lense called Abortion Politics. Feel free to check it out and suggest other links and news articles.

While we’re on this touchy subject please tell me, how does a candidate’s position on abortion affect your vote? What issues are most important to you? Do you have any deal breakers?

Here’s an interesting speech Senator Barack Obama delivered in June of 2006 concerning the reconciliation of faith and politics. It’s a subject I’m interested in since religious pluralism is such an issue in the military chaplaincy.

I assume most of my readers won’t happen upon the video at Obama’s Web site, so I’ll post it here. It’s 40 minutes long. I’d love to read your comments.

P.S. This post is not an endorsement of Obama’s bid for the presidency. I just found the video interesting.

Election Day.

It’s almost here… which means it’s almost over!

How are you going to vote? Please take the poll. If you’re voting for a third party type that in the other box.
