Life Hack
So, I’ve got my Firefox Browser set up with a smart keyword which allows me to just type
gw and my search topic
into my address bar and it will search gentlewhisper.com for whatever I want.
This is so handy. Because, it turns out that GentleWhisper.com has a wealth of information that a person like me might find helpful.
For example: I’m ashamed to admit how many times I’ve searched for, “find my phone.”
One of the posts that comes up is: Can’t Find Your Phone? A post on how to get iping.com to call you for free. I’m waiting for one of those calls right now… Oh no! They’ll only let you use it three times without signing up.
Ahhh but this works!
Go to Call-in-sick.com<. On the bottom of the page it says, “Enter your phone number and we’ll send you an example sick message” Pefect… I found my phone.
And next time I lose it, this post will show up on top when I do my search.
Update: Now Call-in-sick.com doesn’t work… what’s a girl to do?
I misplaced my cell phone. I knew I was just using it… search, search, search. Nothing. I couldn’t call it, I don’t have another phone here.
Perfect solution:
Use the Test Drive feature at Iping.com
Iping is a Web site where you can get wakeup calls and reminders sent to your phone. The service comes with a fee… but the test drive doesn’t.
Just enter your phone number and they’ll call you immediately. Ahh Ha! There it is.
Life Hack:
Can’t get your little one out of the bathtub? Throw a big fluffy towel in the dryer for a few minutes. Wrap him up in a “hot towel” once and he’ll cheer when bath time is over.
Hot towels are a great way to show kids you love them.
Oh and by the way: You don’t get a hot towel if you deliberately pour water on the bathroom floor…
Life Hack:
Use a pizza cutter to cut pancakes, waffles and sandwiches for the kids. Put the syrup on after you cut. It makes the job a lot less sticky.
Life Hack:
Life gets messy when you begin to teach a baby how to feed herself with a spoon. Skip the sticky mess. Buy a snow cone machine. Give your little one a bowl of shaved ice and a spoon. Any spills can easily be wiped up or left to dry on their own. Instead of rinsing her off with a garden hose, you’ll only have to dry that precious baby with a towel. An extra benefit is that the cold ’snow’ can comfort a teething baby.
Earlier I told you how much I love to find plugins, hacks and extensions to make my software run more smoothly.
I love life hacks. Little tips that make life easier. Lifehacker is one of my favorite blogs. You can tell just how much I love it by searching this site for “lifehacker.”
I think I’ll start sharing a few of my own personal life hacks. [Why not? This blog couldn't get any more random!]
Hey this is not just a piece of paper… it’s a customizable, free, disposable personal organizer. Sarah already thinks she is incredibly grown up because she has her very own PocketMod. I’m just wondering how many will end up in my dryer lint trap.
